Project Profile
An International Product Manufacturing Company

Static smoke curtain solutions for large-scale industrial fire and life safety
About the Project
A large consumer product manufacturer located in the Southeastern U.S. operates an open industrial facility that required effective smoke management to support fire protection systems and occupant safety. As part of an ongoing investment in facility safety, Smoke Guard static draft smoke curtains were installed by Maxson and Associates to control smoke movement, enhance sprinkler performance, and meet stringent fire and life safety code requirements throughout the expansive production areas.
Design Solution
The large manufacturing facility required a smoke management approach suited for expansive, highceiling manufacturing spaces. Smoke Guard’s SG Draft® static smoke curtains installed by Maxson and Associates provided a code-compliant solution that integrates with existing fire protection systems while maintaining uninterrupted production workflows.
Design Solution Highlights:
- Engineered to meet NFPA 13, NFPA 92 and local building code requirements
- Supports smoke reservoir formation for improved sprinkler activation
- Designed for large spans & custom industrial layouts
- Fixed, non-deployable system with no activation requirements
INSTALLATION HIGHLIGHTS
Smoke Guard worked closely with the project team to support the installation of 22 static smoke curtain sections (148 panels) across key areas of the facility. The curtains were permanently installed at ceiling level, forming continuous smoke compartments without interfering with equipment, operations, or maintenance access.
The installation plays a critical role in the plant’s broader life safety strategy, supporting fire suppression performance while enhancing occupant safety in a large-scale industrial environment.
