About the Project

Zotefoams’ North American headquarters in Walton, Kentucky underwent a major expansion to support increased manufacturing capacity and full-process production for the U.S. market. The $22 million investment added approximately 53,000 square feet to the existing industrial facility, serving industries including aerospace, automotive, healthcare, packaging, and sports. The open manufacturing environment required an effective smoke management solution to support fire protection systems and maintain occupant safety across large, uninterrupted spaces. Smoke Guard static draft curtains were specified to enhance smoke control while integrating seamlessly into the building’s life safety strategy.

Design Solution

The facility required a permanent smoke management solution capable of controlling airflow and smoke movement within expansive production areas. Smoke Guard SG Draft static smoke curtains were designed to create defined smoke reservoirs at ceiling level, supporting more effective sprinkler activation and smoke exhaust. The fixed curtain system provides continuous performance without mechanical deployment, making it ideal for high-ceiling industrial environments.

INSTALLATION HIGHLIGHTS

Smoke Guard worked with Geiger Construction Products to design and install approximately 410 linear feet of SG Draft fixed curtain material throughout the facility. The system was installed at ceiling level in five curtain sections, creating custom smoke channels aligned with the building’s fire protection layout. The static configuration ensures long-term reliability with minimal maintenance, delivering consistent smoke control across the expanded manufacturing floor.
