Project Profile

Liberty High School

Code-Compliant Solutions for Educational Environments

About the Project

Liberty High School is the first new comprehensive
high school in Lubbock County in nearly 60 years. As
part of a multi-year construction project, the school’s
Field House required code-compliant fire and smoke
protection for a long central corridor featuring glass
storefronts.

Working with Powers Products Southwest, Smoke
Guard supplied and helped install six M2100F vertical
fire + smoke curtains, delivering a reliable and
integrated fire-life safety solution tailored to the
school’s modern, open-concept design.

Design Solution

To protect the Field House’s long corridor, Smoke Guard provided six M2100F vertical fire + smoke curtains. These deploy automatically and integrate cleanly into the space while meeting strict fire and smoke code requirements. The system offered a compact, effective solution without compromising the school’s modern design.

The M2100F systems were engineered to:

  • Deploy via alarm or smoke detection
  • Seamlessly fit glass wall assemblies
  • Provide 3-hour fire and smoke protection (UL10D)
  • Offer battery backup and fail-safe operation
  • Meet IBC, NFPA, ASTM, and UL Standards

INSTALLATION HIGHLIGHTS

Fast-Tracked for Performance and Compliance:

  • Smoke Guard was selected over a competitor that could not meet the aggressive timeline
  • 6 curtain units were installed by a 5-person crew in just over one day
  • Installation included pre-testing and successful commissioning ahead of tight school turnover deadlines
  • Local fire marshal and school district expressed high satisfaction with system performance and integration
